technology, technology. hi, good evening. i am with bendel, director of the eagleton institute of politics here at rutgers university and it is my great pleasure to welcome you to this evening special event. this is just one of many exciting events that we planned for this fall and i encourage all of you. i know many of you are in the class and there's many people to pick up the flier outside the room with details about upcoming programs. in particular want to mention that on monday, october 15 will be presenting nbc political director chuck todd at the campus center and there's still time to sign up for that event. and of course for the others. some of you may not realize that you are actually attending a session of a course. the course is called political campaigning. that has been taught at the eagleton institute of policy for more than two decades. it has always been taught by a bipartisan team of political practitioners in collaboration with a scholar for political scientists. it of course is a perfect example of what th

so the fda is having a hard time learning how to kind of address this emerging technology. issues such as the adverse reporting when a patient says that a medicine harm to them is that the portable to the pharmaceutical industry looking at this? the patient confidentiality and also issues about how do we deal with misleading information posted by different types of users whether it be a consumer or whether it be potentially another illicit actor. what we are going to be talking about today of course is how the illicit online pharmacies use this format. what led us to this is we were looking at big pharma pharmaceutical companies to see what their presence was and how they were using it. academics or academia can be behind the curve, so when we report the results not surprisingly we found a lot of the pharmaceutical companies using social media. no big surprise to anyone but we just reported this last year. what we found that was very interesting is that we also found illicit links to no prescription online pharmacies while we were doing our searches and what we found was a

using satellite technology, reducing carbon emissions, using best technology to reduce voice community cations or voice saturation on frequencies. that's what it is as we move forward in the short term and the near term. we've heard about the equipment, and we've heard about eram. that's not considered a nextgen program. it was supposed to be implemented by now. collaboration is key for anything to work, i think, in life, but eram in 2009 when secretary babbitt and sec fair lahood were confirmed, we were not involved at all. it was already over budget and not deployed in any facilities across the country. it was in january of 2010 we started to get involved in identifying those number of areas we were getting on the positions as we were testing eram in the back room that was it was unacceptable and unsafe to run in air traffic control facilities to track airplanes. through hard work, collaboration, through the passion of our controllers being involved, we're proud to say it's up and running continuously in five facilities across the country and hopefully we meet the goal in making 2014
